SUMMER CAMP FAQS
Where are camps being held?
We have two camp locations in Chicago: Lake View/Lincoln Park Broadway Summer Camps are at the Athenaeum Theatre located at 2936 N Southport Ave, Chicago, IL 60657. Andersonville Broadway Summer Camps are at the First Free Church Family Life Center located at 5255 N Ashland Ave, Chicago, IL 60640. What will a typical day of camp be like? Campers will all start the day with team-building games and actor toolbox warm ups for their voice, body, and imagination! The rest of the day will alternate music, acting, and dance rehearsals with creative drama activities, games, crafts, and time outdoors! What is your refund policy in case our summer plans change? Camps are non-refundable, so please consult your calendar in advance of registration. You may exchange your dates for a camp of equal or lesser value pending availability. What does my camper need to wear/bring? All campers must wear a mask, clothes that allow a full range of motion, and dance friendly shoes (sneakers or a change of jazz shoes). Flip flops and sandals are not going to allow your camper to do their best footwork! Campers should also bring a water bottle and a nut-free snack. No snacks will be provided! Full day campers should bring a nut-free packed lunch and a second snack. Broadway Show campers should bring their printed script in a three-ring binder with a pencil and highlighter. Broadway Show campers will be provided instructions for how to assemble their own costume for the final show. |
I’ve never heard of Skyline Studios. Have you had classes in the city before?
Skyline was founded in 2003! For the last sixteen years, thousands of local children have participated in Skyline Shows and enjoyed the chance to shine on stage! Most of our programs until now have been based on the North Shore, so, this summer we are thrilled to launch our Skyline Chicago City Branch! What COVID-19 safety measures are in place? Skyline is following all recommendations by the CDC and the Illinois Department of Public Health. We are closely monitoring regional metrics and will continue to follow best practices including social distancing, masking, frequent hand washing, eating outdoors, and increased sanitation procedures. Our class sizes will be small. If you are interested in organizing a pod for your camper (keeping them with the same instructor and group of friends from week to week), please reach out to skylinestudioschi@gmail.com. My child is very shy and has never been on stage before. Will Skyline be the right fit? YES! Our instructors will work to bring your child out of their shell through a variety of activities designed to foster their creative expression. By the end of the week, they will be thoroughly prepared to sing, act, dance, and put on a show! We will also have traditional games and crafts for children to enjoy outside of their performance activities and plenty of opportunities to build friendships --which is often the best cure for stage fright! |
